RESIDENTIAL

In planning and designing residential interior spaces, maximization of limited area by having multi-functional use is becoming a trend. This can be seen especially on condominiums and apartments in cities where space is at a premium. Designing a limited area requires a creative plan that will cater to various needs of a living space. Some design interventions include mechanisms for furniture and storage elements, maximizing overhead spaces by adding shelves and using mirrors to make the room seem bigger. Fabric and textured materials add a rich feel and sheer curtains allow diffused light to enter the interior. Combining spaces such as living and dining will also help maximize the potential of the area providing different functions. Materials selection is another factor that is highly considered in designing these spaces to properly achieve the design theme and concept. Wood finishes feels warm and inviting, color paint contrasts or brightens, highly reflective materials adds depth and lighting sets the mood. Having all of these interior design techniques combined with a cohesive idea will create a space that is creative, unique while at the same time functional.
